‘THE DISTANT BARKING OF DOGS’ SHORTLISTED FOR THE 2019 OSCARS / by Maria Kristensen

We are pleased to announce that The Distant Barking of Dogs, directed by Simon Lereng Wilmont, is 1 of 15 films shortlisted for the 2019 Oscars®in the Documentary Feature category. This year a record number of 166 films were submitted for the Oscars.

The nominations will be released 22 January, 2019, and the winner will be announced at the 91st Academy Awards on 24 February 2019.

To qualify for the Oscars®, a film needs to win 1 of 66 preselected awards at various film festivals around the world. The Distant Barking of Dogs won four of these qualifying awards: the Best International Film at the Docaviv Festival, the Dragon Award for Best Nordic Documentary at the Göteborg Film Festival, the Best Documentary of the International Feature Documentary at the It's All True International Documentary Film Festival, and the Golden Alexander Award at the Thessaloniki Film Festival.
