'Char -The No Man's Island' selected for Berlin Film Festival - FORUM / by Maria Kristensen

Char -The No Man's Island, directed by Sourav Sarangi has been selected for the 2013 Berlinale.

The film is co-produced by Final Cut for Real and we are very proud that the film has been selected to screen in Berlin.

Signe Byrge Sørensen, co-producer of the film:
"I met the director Sourav Sarangi, both of us being on the Jury at Al Jazeera International Documentary Film Festival in Qatar, April 2010. I loved his previous film "Bilal" telling the story of a little kid growing up with his blind parents in Kolkata. The film was already an international success in the festivals; and I asked about his next project, Char - the No-Man's Island. I was drawn in immediately because of Sourav's unusual access to the people living in the islands at the border between India and Bangladesh; and the two charismatic young protagonists in the film. I liked too that Sourav was focusing more on the people's human emotions and abilities, rather than their poverty. The migrants survive by smuggling across the border under unbelievable climatic and political situations but still they retain their human dignity."

Char - The No Man's Island will screen in the FORUM programme.
