We are pleased to announce that Gulabi Gang, directed by Nishtha Jain and produced by Piraya Film in Norway, in co-production with Raintree Films (India) and Final Cut for Real (Denmark) has won two important awards at the National Film Awards 2014 in India.

The film received both the award for Best Film on Social Issues and the award for Best Editing.

The award for Best Film on Social Issues was given for "its powerful depiction of a crusader for the subaltern that takes us deeper into the continuing struggles of the rural Indian woman set in a milieu of chauvinistic scepticism"

Arjun Gourisaria won the award for Best Editing for Gulabi Gang- here is the jury's statement: "Arjun Gourisaria is awarded the RAJAT KAMAL for imparting the film with its structure and rhythm, tempo and drama, movement and exposition".

The awards also entail that Gulabi Gang will be screened on national Indian television.

The awards will be handed out on May 3rd - you can read more on the official website for the Directorate of Film Festivals.
