POSITIVE FIRST REVIEWS OF JOSHUA OPPENHEIMER'S 'THE LOOK OF SILENCE' / by Maria Kristensen

Joshua Oppenheimer's documentary The Look of Silence has been unanimously well received by the press in their initial reviews. Both Time Out Magazine and The Guardian awards the film with 5/5 stars, and The Guardian's Peter Bradshaw describes Oppenheimer's companion piece as 'more personal, more combative', but 'just as much a must-see as its predecessor'.

There is likewise praise from Variety's Guy Lodge, who notes that 'There are as few safe moves as there are false notes, however, in The Look of Silence, an altogether stunning companion piece that shifts its emphasis from the perpetrators of the atrocity to their victims, all the while maintaining its predecessor's ornate moral complexities, keen sociological shading and occasional, devastating jabs of humor'.
