WHAT WALAA WANTS, currently being directed by Christy Garland, is among the seven projects selected by the Gucci Tribeca Documentary Fund for projects that ”highlight and humanize critical domestic and international social issues.” The film is one of three recipients of the AOL Charitable Foundation award for spotlighting the lives of women and youth around the globe.
What Walaa Wants follows the life of Walaa on the West Bank from when she is 16 until she is 20, as she struggles to become one of the few policewomen on the Palestinian Security Forces.
